Three cheers for RDF and xml:base!

Several coffee pots and one productive weekend later, we’re happy to roll out an entire suite of updates to our codebase:

RDF (RSS 1.0) support

xml:base and relative URI support

  • Daniel Aleksandersen gave us the lead on this one. Some Atom and RSS 1.0 feeds use xml:base to set the base URI for all internal links, and we’re happy to say that AideRSS will now properly handle these cases.

Other:

  • Improved XML detection & recovery for malformed feeds.
  • Faster & more frequent feed updates across the entire site.

From Features

  • Daniel, indeed we're increasingly noticing xml:base appearing more and more often in a lot of feeds. The Wordpress move would certainly explain this trend!

For Dublin Core, we currently support it in Atom / RSS 1.0 and we are planning to extend support for RSS 2.0 in the near future.
  • Newer versions of WordPress includes xml:base by default. Now was really a good time to add support.

A question about the Dublin Core support: Do you look for Dublin Core metadata in other formats such as Atom 1 and RSS 2, as well?
