Because it’s not much of a conversation if you don’t know what people are saying… We’ve added Disqus and Intense Debate to the information sources that AideRSS analyzes when ranking items.
With Disqus and Intense Debate, comments are managed via users’ addition of a snippet of Javascript to their sites. Previously, however, because of this, PostRank functionality didn’t access comments managed by those apps, and so didn’t consider comments on Disqus- or Intense Debate-enabled sites when analyzing them for rankings. (We still analyzed the other types of attention – digg submissions, del.icio.us bookmarks, etc.)
With the upgrade, however, PostRank now accesses comments whether they’re submitted directly to a site, or if the site owner has Disqus or Intense Debate set up for comment management. As a result, site rankings now take all comments into account, and should accurately display comment totals in a feed’s analysis.
Many thanks to the teams at Disqus and Intense Debate for all their help in getting this functionality up and running. Ben (Disqus) and Michael (Intense Debate) – you’re great partners!
