Much of the most valuable online content comes from smaller media sources, particularly individual publishers. Learning how their content is performing with their audiences, improving their blogging, and developing relationships with their readers is as important to them as to larger media outlets. But until now web analytics have not been developed with individual publishers in mind.
Today PostRank is changing that with the launch of PostRank Analytics. We think our Analytics service is pretty groundbreaking, since it’s the first one to combine traditional and social engagement web metrics in a way that analyzes and presents the data to best benefit publishers today, and over time. Google Analytics integration even further enriches the metrics that publishers can access.
We want publishers to better be able to identify when, where, and how their audiences are engaging with their content, and not only in the last week or month, but right now as well. “Internet time” moves really fast, and “social media time” moves even faster. Over 50% of all the engagement posts get happens in the first hour after they’re published, so a comprehensive real-time view is an important tool to help publishers connect with their audiences.
Additionally, engagement activity is spread across a wide variety of social networks, sites, and applications, so aggregating that activity for publishers saves them a great deal of time. We collect engagement metrics from nearly two dozen of the most important social hubs to enable publishers to track not only where their audiences are already reading, organizing, and sharing their content, but also what new ones are becoming important to monitor.
Publishers also want to know how they’re doing within the larger context of the blogosphere, and PostRank Analytics enable them to benchmark their performance against competitive blogs or in the topic areas they write about. Initially publishers can see how well they’re engaging with their audiences now, and over time they can track how their audiences are growing, their engagement is increasing, and their reach is expanding.
PostRank Analytics display a number of dashboards to present increasingly broad or narrow views of a publisher’s metrics. The Overview page displays key engagement metrics to provide an at-a-glance summary of how the most recent post is doing. There’s an Engagement Graph to offer a customizable visual metrics display, and Concierge Reports to provide a daily at-a-glance summary of the blog’s most important stats, sent right to your inbox.
The Analyze page displays the publisher’s last 10 posts, with a host of traditional and social media metrics for each, enabling a quick “heartbeat” scan of how posts have been engaging the audience recently. Drill deeper for individual posts to get an in-depth presentation of that post’s metrics, a customizable Engagement Graph displaying the post’s life cycle, and a Conversation Feed of who’s saying what about the feed, and where. This Feed enables timely conversations about the blog’s content, rather than isolated, one-off engagement activities.
To encourage publishers even more to learn where and how their content is resonating, grow their audiences, and increase their posts’ engagement life cycles, we’re offering a no-risk, free, 30-day trial of PostRank Analytics. (Ideally, we hope you love it so much you recommend it to others, too!)
