To access the Settings page, you will need to be logged in to PostRank.com. From the Settings page, you can:

  • edit your profile
  • change your password or OpenID login
  • manage your account notifications (like if you have a new follower)
  • check which PostRank applications are available to you and which you have approved to use with your account
  • access developer resources
  • claim your blogs in the PostRank system.

Settings menu

You can access the Settings page from the Settings link in the right sidebar on most pages on the site. It’s beside the Profile link to the right of your avatar. The Profile and Settings links are visible on most pages on the site, but if you’re on a page where they’re not, clicking your username in the menu at the top right of any page will take you to a page where the Settings link is displayed.

Profile

When you create a PostRank.com account, you are required to create a profile. However, the only field you have to fill in is Nickname. (And that doesn’t even have to be your real name.) However, the more information you include, the easier it is for the community to get to know you. And so you can come back and edit your profile any time.

The Profile section is displayed by default when you arrive on the Settings page. Your Nickname is set when you create your account and can’t be changed. However, you can fill in or edit your Name, Location, Website URL, Twitter username, and any Bio information you like (up to 250 characters).

And, of course, if you have a Gravatar account, you can display a picture. (You’ll need to use the same email address for your Gravatar account as you use for your PostRank account.)

Once you’ve added or edited your profile fields, click Update Profile to save the changes.

Add or Change OpenID

If you created your PostRank account with an email address and password, you can also add an OpenID and change how you login to your account. Or, if you have an OpenID associated with your account already, you can change it.

On the Settings page, select the Password section from the menu options.

Type your desired OpenID into the OpenID field, e.g. a Yahoo! email address, then click the Add button.

Add or change OpenID for your account

Once the OpenID has been added to your account or changed to a new one, you will be able to login to PostRank.com and access all of your account features with either your email address and password or your (new) OpenID.

Recover Lost Password

Trying to login and can’t remember your password? We can help! On the Login page, click either the Recover Password or Forgot Password? link (or click either of those links to the Recovery page from here).

Recover password

On the Password Recovery page, enter the email address associated with your account, then click the Recover button.

The page will refresh, displaying a confirmation message that a password reset code has been sent to your email address.

Change Email Address

For the time being, this is not a function account holders can complete on their own. To get the email address saved on your account changed, email us from the email address currently saved on your account.

If you prefer, and we’re following each other, you can also contact us via Twitter at @aiderss or @postrank and provide the email address change details via direct message (DM).

We do not recommend contacting us for account email changes via Get Satisfaction because your email address would then be publicly displayed.

Deleting Your Account

For the time being, this is not a function account holders can complete on their own. If you would like your PostRank account deleted, email us from the email address currently saved on your account.

If you prefer, and we’re following each other, you can also contact us via Twitter at @aiderss or @postrank and provide the account deletion details via direct message (DM).

We do not recommend contacting us for account deletion via Get Satisfaction because your email address would then be publicly displayed.

Claim Your Blogs

The Claim Your Blogs section enables PostRank users to verify the blogs they own. This can include personal blogs, professional blogs, etc. This functionality enables users to have more detailed, consolidated profiles, and will enable multi-blog analytics in the future. For group publications, all participating authors can claim the blog.

To claim a blog, type or paste the URL in the Blog field, then click Add. Your blog will be added for verification, and you will then have to complete a verification step to complete the claiming process.

Select one of the options in the verification method drop-down menu:

  • Upload an HTML file
  • Add an image (Hosted Blogs)
  • Add a meta tag

The first and third options are for people who host their own blogs. The second option is for people using a hosting service, like WordPress or Blogger.

Depending which option you choose, you will get a relevant code snippet to use to create an HTML page to upload, create an image to publish in a post, or create a meta tag to add to your site’s header.

Claim your blogs

Once you complete that step, return to the Claim Your Blogs page and click the Verify button. Our system will complete the verification within a couple of seconds, and you can then delete the verification code/image you added.
