Importing Feeds

There are three ways to add new feeds to your PostRank account. You can add individual feeds using the Analyze field. And there are also two ways of adding feeds in bulk.

OPML Import

OPML File is the first option available in the Import feeds using drop-down field on the My Feeds page. Most feed readers have a function that allows you to export all your feed subscriptions and settings in a single OPML file. You can then import that file into another feed reader, our website, or elsewhere.

To import an OPML file into our system, select OPML File from the drop-down field. Then use the Browse field below the drop-down to navigate to the folder on your computer where you have saved your OPML file. When the file path is displayed in the Browse field, click the Import button.

Once the OPML file has been imported, a green confirmation message will be displayed. It will list the number of feeds successfully imported, and the number of feeds queued to be added to our system, if there are any. Any feeds queued should be added within a few minutes.

Direct Input

Direct Input feed importingOn the My Feeds page, click the Import tab.

The first field displayed is Import feeds using, and from the drop-down field you can select OPML or Direct Input. Direct Input enables you to manually add feeds by typing or pasting the URLs.

Select Direct Input from the drop-down field, which will open a text field beneath it. Type or paste in as many URLs as you would like to import, pressing enter after each one so there’s only one displayed per line.

Enter as many tags for the feeds as you like in the Tags field. Note that all feeds added will be tagged with all tag words, so if the feeds are not all on the same topic or theme, you may want to import the feeds in smaller groups and tag accordingly.

After you have added all the feed URLs and tags you want, press the Import button. Once the feeds have been imported, a green confirmation message will be displayed, and will list the number of feeds successfully imported.

The message will also display the number of feeds queued to be added to our system, if there are any. Any feeds queued should be added within a few minutes.

Exporting Feeds

Feeds can be exported from our system individually or in bulk. To export feeds, on the My Feeds page, select the feed or feeds you want to export by clicking the check box to the left of each feed. You can also use the Select field to select a group of feeds. (To export all your feeds, select All in the Select drop-down.)

Once the feeds you want to export are selected, click the Export tab. The number of feeds selected for export will be displayed above your feeds list, next to the Select field, along with an Export button.

Exporting feeds

Click the Export button. A dialog box will pop up, prompting you to save or open the OPML file you are exporting. A green confirmation message will also be displayed on the page, listing how many feeds were successfully exported.
